5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique for Intense Emotions

5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique for Intense Emotions

We all have times when our emotions feel overwhelming or even unbearable. Whether you are experiencing intense worry, stress, or anger, this mindfulness practice can help ease heightened emotions. Known as the 5-4-3-2-1 Technique, it helps by bringing awareness to your body and its surroundings and away from your emotions.

Because this practice only takes a few minutes, it can be done anywhere and at any time. You will become aware of all five senses, one by one. This allows you to slow down and feel more present.

Whenever an intense emotion comes up, use this practice to come back to the present moment. If you need additional support with this exercise, feel free to reach out to your coach. If you continue to struggle with your mood, please contact your doctor or your Goodpath coach.
