Anxiety: Getting The Care You Need

As you recall, you completed your initial assessment before starting your Goodpath program. We asked you questions not only about your medical problem, but also about your health in general, including your emotional well-being. Our assessment includes the following questions about anxiety symptoms:

Anxiety Screening Questions

      Do you:

  • Feel nervous, anxious, or on edge?

  • Unable to stop or control worrying?

  • Worry too much about different things?

  • Have trouble relaxing?

  • So restless it is hard to sit still?

  • Become easily annoyed or irritated?

  • Feel afraid, as if something awful might happen?

*These symptoms occurred at least several days over the two previous weeks. And, they may have made it difficult for you to do your work, take care of things at home, or get along with people.


Your Anxiety Symptoms

You may have completed your follow-up assessment, which includes questions about anxiety symptoms. And, you may have talked with your coach about your anxiety. From your assessment responses or the information you shared with your coach, it seems your anxiety symptoms have not improved.

Since you have anxiety symptoms, we’d like to recommend additional care.

Goodpath’s Mental Health Support

First, you can continue with your current program (see the details below). In addition, Goodpath offers therapy for those with anxiety and other emotional problems. Depending on your symptoms it may be:

  • Our 12-week app-based therapy program with ongoing coach support. At times, they may advise a member to work with one of our therapists.

  • Counseling with a Goodpath therapist. The number and frequency of sessions are based on your needs. You will also use the app-based program to support your therapy. 

In either case, your coach or therapist will work with you and change your therapy as needed.

Prescription Therapy

If you’re working with one of our therapists, they may recommend that you see your primary care doctor to talk about prescription medicine for anxiety.

Your doctor will talk with you about your anxiety symptoms and how they’re affecting you. They may complete a basic physical exam or order lab tests to check for medical causes of your symptoms.

Your doctor may prescribe medicine for anxiety or refer you to a mental health doctor (psychiatrist).

If you start taking medicine, they will monitor your anxiety symptoms, ask you about side effects, and determine if any medicine changes are needed. At the same time, you can participate in your Goodpath program, including mental health support.

Why You Should Get Care for Anxiety

There are many reasons for you to seek care for anxiety symptoms. You may think you have to live with them, but effective treatment is available. It is critical to your well-being to address your symptoms since they may negatively impact your ability to cope, your daily functioning, and your overall health.

Effects Of Anxiety

Day-To-Day Challenges

As described above, anxiety-related symptoms may create problems with relationships, work or school, or almost any activity. 

Life Changes

You may be functioning day-to-day, even with a high level of anxiety. However, additional stress, whether positive or negative, may make it extra difficult to cope. 

Coping with family events (weddings, births, or deaths), employment changes (promotions, new positions, or job loss), or life changes (a move to another community/home, an empty nest, or aging or aging family members)  may worsen your symptoms.

Medical Conditions

Anxiety is associated with many other medical conditions, such as gastrointestinal problems, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, and extra body weight. Anxiety also increases the challenges of managing these and other conditions.

Getting the care you need for anxiety can be challenging. Goodpath offers several effective options. You’ll work with your coach and our therapists if needed. The goal is to improve your emotional health along with your pain, sleep, digestive, or long COVID symptoms.
