Bowel movements occur more or less often than usual
Bowel movements occurring more or less often than usual is one of three symptoms for diagnosing IBS, as defined by the IBS Rome IV Criteria. You're more likely to be diagnosed with IBS if this type of pain happens at least once a week in the last 3 months (and is accompanied by one more symptom).
If your symptoms do not exactly fit the criteria, it is still possible for you to have IBS. Learn about how it can start and some other common symptoms of IBS here.
